Suspension Tuning, One Level at a Time.

There are many reasons for altering suspension components on a BMW, and also many ways to accomplish those goals.

At UUC Motorwerks, our customers' goals fall into one or more of these categories:

Addressing these goals as suits the individual enthusiast is the foundation of UUC's Suspension Tuning Program, designed to bring the car's level of performance to the driver's optimum goals in a very specific, worthwhile, and safe manner.

Baseline
The foundation for any improvement in a car's handling is improved contact with the road surface. Tires are the car's only point of direct interaction and are often the weakest link in the chain of suspension or handling improvements. As original equipment tires are often a compromise based on such factors as cost, comfort, sound, and wet weather handling, they are rarely optimized for "sport" handling. Installing a "plus one" tire setup (and often accompanied by a larger wheel diameter) is the place to start. Depending on which BMW model you have, an increase in tire width of 20mm or more will make a substantial improvement in handling, as will increasing wheel diameter 1" or 2".

Stage 1
Stage 1 begins with the improvement of some of the suspension components.
Springs only
The UUC Tuned Spring Set is designed to work with the car's original equipment (OE) shocks and struts. Benefits include a visual lowering of ride height and better control of body roll from suspension compression .Available for most BMW models.

Swaybars only
UUC revolutionized the idea of "chassis balance" in modern BMWs by offering swaybars that dialed out the understeer (plowing) of recent chassis designs by reconfiguring the relative sizes for perfect (and tunable) understeer/oversteer balance. While other manufacturers went the route of "bigger is better", our suspension tuning experts knew this is not always true, and carefully-chosen sizing results in optimum handling benefits. Decreased body roll in turns and ideal balance are the results. Available for 1992-2004 3-series and M3.

Stage 2
Stage 2 combines the Tuned Spring Set and SwayBarbarian set for well-rounded chassis control.

"Plus"

Further chassis stiffening enhances the suspension's work and improves responsiveness. Upgrade any Stage to "Plus" status with the addition of the UUC StrutBarbarian Ultralight Magnesium strut tower brace. Available for 1999-2004 3-series, coming soon for 1992-1999 3-series/ M3 and 2001-2004 M3.
