Trunk Handle With the newer, more sleek designs that Audi and BMW continue to introduce, they have failed to engineer a idiot-proof trunk handle to aid in closing the trunk. Whereas many cars being produced have the same flaw, they typically have inside trunk handles which require an acrobatic movement of pulling on the inside handle hard enough, yet requiring you to yank your hand out quick enough before it catches your hand or fingers. Add to this, complexity of groceries in one hand, this does not become and easy feat. Mercedes Benz has a cleaver idea when they were faced with this issue on a convertible. They produced a L-shaped bracket which attached to the license plate utilizing the existing license plate mounting screws. Unfortunately, it is only available in a chrome finished, stainless steel which does not match most late model BMWs and Audis. It retails for about $20 from most Mercedes Benz dealerships.
By installing this trunk handle, you're not longer limited to using the built-in inside handle on the car. You can now take you time, using the lip in the handle to close the trunk, without touching the paint on your trunk (and getting fingerprints all over it). |
